Description
Custom Two-Board End Grain Cutting Board Set
This handcrafted two-board set combines Tigerwood, Black Wenge, Cherry,
and Honey Locust in a distinctive end grain layout inspired by the natural
movement of feathers and flame.
The larger board serves as the primary cutting and preparation surface,
while the smaller companion board carries the same hardwood palette and
design language in a more compact form. Together, they create a coordinated
set built for both everyday use and presentation.
This is a Custom Order. Actual size, price, colors, wood grain, and
design will vary from board to board. Please contact us for specific

Distinctive Feather and Flame Pattern
The main body of each board is built from richly figured Tigerwood,
arranged to emphasize the natural streaking and movement within the grain.
The resulting pattern creates a repeated feather-like or flame-like effect
that changes across the surface from one block to the next.
Dark Black Wenge borders provide strong visual definition, while the
narrow center accents add detail without overpowering the natural figure
of the Tigerwood.
Two Coordinated Boards
The larger board provides a generous working surface for slicing,
chopping, carving, and general food preparation. The smaller companion
board offers a convenient surface for quick prep, garnishes, cheese,
fruit, or smaller serving tasks.
Both boards share the same hardwood combination and visual style, allowing
them to be used together as a coordinated set or separately for different
kitchen tasks.
Premium Hardwood Construction
Four contrasting hardwood species were selected to create the set’s color,
depth, and natural variation.
-
Tigerwood: Warm golden-brown coloring with bold dark
streaking and dramatic natural figure -
Black Wenge: Deep brown coloring that forms the strong
outer borders -
Cherry: Warm reddish tones that add subtle contrast
within the center accents -
Honey Locust: Golden coloring and distinctive grain
that introduces brightness and natural variation
Because genuine hardwood varies naturally in grain, tone, and figure,
every custom set will have its own individual appearance.
Why End Grain Matters
End grain construction positions the ends of the wood fibers at the
cutting surface. This allows the fibers to separate slightly beneath a
knife edge and then return toward their original position, helping reduce
visible cutting marks while remaining gentler on quality knives.
- Knife-friendly cutting surface
- Helps minimize visible knife marks
- Durable construction for regular use
- Highlights the character of each hardwood block
Smooth, Refined Finish
Each board is carefully flattened, sanded, and polished to create an
exceptionally smooth surface. Particular attention is given to the end
grain so the finished boards feel refined while remaining fully functional
for everyday cutting and serving.
The boards are conditioned with a food-safe butcher block conditioner to
nourish the hardwood, deepen the natural colors, and help protect the wood
from drying.
Stable During Use
Non-slip rubber feet help keep both boards securely positioned during use
while raising them slightly above the countertop. This added clearance
improves airflow beneath the wood and makes the boards easier to lift and
handle.
Custom Options Available
Because this set is made by custom order, the final dimensions, hardwood
selection, pattern, and selected features may be adjusted to suit the
customer’s preferences and the availability of suitable material.
Juice grooves and finger grooves may be added upon request at no
additional cost. Alternative dimensions or wood combinations may also be
considered. Final pricing will depend on the requested size, materials,
design, and selected options.
Custom Premium Craftsmanship
Every board in the Fifeco Custom Premium Series is individually planned,
milled, assembled, flattened, sanded, conditioned, and inspected by hand.
Producing a coordinated two-board set requires careful material selection
and layout so both pieces share a consistent visual character.
Natural variation in grain, figure, color, and block placement is part of
the beauty of genuine hardwood and ensures that every custom set is one of
a kind.
Care Notes
Hand wash only using mild soap and warm water, then dry promptly. Do not
place either board in a dishwasher, leave it submerged in water, or expose
it to extreme heat.
Periodically apply a food-safe butcher block conditioner to nourish the
hardwood, preserve its natural color, and help protect it from drying
during regular use.
