3D Chevron Center Design

The visual spine of the board is a repeating 3D Chevron pattern created
from Tigerwood, Wenge, and Hard Maple. The relationship between the warm
Tigerwood, deep Wenge, and light Maple creates the appearance of depth,
direction, and movement running through the center of the board.

The dimensional effect comes entirely from the geometry of the pieces and
the natural color of the hardwoods. No stains or artificial coloring are
used to create the pattern.

A Design That Develops Outward From The Chevron

The Chevron establishes the center of the composition, but the design does
not stop there. The surrounding hardwoods progressively broaden the pattern
outward through different layers of color, contrast, geometry, and grain.

Padauk, Nogal, Green Poplar, Walnut, and Honduran Rosewood form the first
geometric transition surrounding the Chevron. The layout then opens into
larger fields of dark, expressive end grain where the natural figure of
the wood becomes part of the design itself.

A Tigerwood perimeter completes the progression by framing the entire
composition with warm, highly figured grain.

Geometry Meets Natural Grain

One of the defining characteristics of this board is the relationship
between controlled geometry and natural hardwood figure.

Near the center, the pattern is precise and deliberate. As the design moves
outward, the geometry gradually gives way to broader areas where the grain
of the wood creates its own movement and visual character.

The result is a board that can be viewed in layers: dimensional Chevron,
geometric transition, natural grain field, and outer frame. Each section
performs a different role while contributing to one complete design.

Premium Hardwood Construction

Multiple hardwood species were selected not simply for color, but for the
different visual roles they could serve within the finished composition.

• Tigerwood:
  Warm golden-brown color and bold natural figure used within the Chevron
  and outer frame
• Wenge:
  Deep brown to nearly black tones that create strong dimensional contrast
• Hard Maple:
  Light natural color that defines the Chevron edges and highlights the
  geometry
• Padauk:
  Rich reddish tones that introduce warmth and visual rhythm
• Nogal:
  Deep brown hardwood that adds another layer of natural contrast
• Green Poplar:
  Naturally varied olive and green tones that contribute character to the
  surrounding pattern
• Walnut:
  Rich dark brown tones used to create visual depth and broader grain fields
• Honduran Rosewood:
  Dense, richly colored hardwood used to deepen contrast and define transitions

All of the visible color and contrast comes from the hardwood itself.
The design uses no stains or artificial coloring.

Why End Grain Matters

End grain construction positions the ends of the wood fibers at the
cutting surface. This allows the fibers to receive knife impact more
naturally, helping reduce visible wear while providing a durable surface
for regular kitchen use.

Handcrafted One Board At A Time

Every section of this board was individually cut, arranged, assembled,
flattened, sanded, conditioned, and inspected by hand.

The design developed outward from the Chevron rather than forcing every
hardwood into the same visual role. Some pieces establish geometry. Some
create contrast. Others provide transition or allow their natural grain
to become the pattern.

Each component retains its own character while contributing to the larger
finished piece.

Care Notes

Hand wash only with mild soap and water, then dry promptly. Do not place
in a dishwasher, leave submerged in water, or expose the board to prolonged
extreme heat.

Periodic conditioning with a food-safe butcher block conditioner will help
preserve the hardwood, enrich its natural colors, and support long-term
performance.
